Legislation of the European Union related to municipal waste and its reflection in the Association Agreement with Ukraine

Since signing the Associaton Agreement with the European Union on June 27, 2014, Ukraine has contnued process of adaptaton of its legislaton in the field of waste management to European standards. According to Annex XXX to Chapter 6 of the Associaton Agreement, Ukraine should implement the following three Directves: Directve 2008/98/EC of the European parliament and of the Council of 19 November 2008 on waste and repealing certain Directves; Council Directve 1999/31EC of 26 April 1999 on the landfill of waste and Directve 2006/21/EC of the European parliament and of the Council of 15 March 2006 on the management of waste from extractve industries. The benefits for Ukraine after signing the Associaton Agreement are unconditonal, but more important is to implement its provisions.
