An analysis of current challenges in the use and protection of Ukraine's water resources has been conducted, particularly regarding the uneven access to safe drinking water. The study examines the impact of the full-scale aggression by the Russian Federation on the country's water infrastructure and its consequences, such as the destruction of water supply and sewage systems, irrigation networks, and hydraulic structures. The work highlights the importance of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and implementing innovative approaches to water resource management, specifically a comprehensive model that considers economic, environmental, and social aspects. It addresses the problems related to water supply quality in Ukraine and proposes a structured approach to resolving them. A formula has been proposed to assess the efficiency of water resource use, integrating indicators of economic productivity, environmental status, and socioeconomic imbalance.
