The total length of the paper is 47 pages; it contains 3 tables, 1 appendix, and references to 28 sources. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of microbial consortia on the fertility indicators of degraded soils and to evaluate the effectiveness of their use for restoring soil properties. The object of the study is the process of restoring the fertility of degraded soils using microbial consortia. The subject of the study is the effect of soil microorganism consortia on the agrochemical and biological indicators of degraded soils. The study employed biotechnological, microbiological, and statistical research methods. Research results have shown that the use of microbial consortia (Azotobacter, Bacillus, and Pseudomonas) helps increase the biological activity of degraded soil, increasing the abundance of the soil microbiota by 1.7 – 2.3 times compared to the control. The use of microbial consortia improves the soil’s agrochemical properties, as evidenced by an increase in pH to 6.1 – 6.5 and an increase in organic matter content to 3.0 – 3.4%. The most effective consortium was the complex one (Azotobacter + Bacillus + Pseudomonas), which yielded the best soil fertility indicators and can be recommended for the biological restoration of degraded lands. The practical significance of this work lies in providing a scientific basis for the application of soil microorganism consortia as an effective tool for the restoration of degraded soils and the enhancement of their fertility. The results obtained demonstrate the potential of beneficial microbial communities to improve soil physicochemical and biological properties, stimulate nutrient availability, enhance soil enzymatic activity, and support the establishment and growth of plants under unfavorable environmental conditions. The developed microbial consortia may be utilized in the reclamation of disturbed lands, including areas affected by erosion, industrial pollution, mining activities, and military impacts. The findings can be incorporated into the development of sustainable agricultural practices and environmentally safe biotechnologies aimed at reducing the use of synthetic agrochemicals, improving soil health, and increasing agricultural productivity. Moreover, the proposed approaches contribute to the restoration of ecosystem services, maintenance of soil biodiversity, and long-term ecological sustainability, thereby supporting the implementation of nature-based solutions for land management and environmental protection.
