It is emphasized that the current solution of food problems in the world is carried out at the expense of deterioration of land resources, which strategically means a decrease in the potential for food supply of future generations. To correct this situation, it is important to move to the concept of sustainable development and the formation of sustainable agri-food systems that would meet the following characteristics: balance, strategic, institutional, manufacturability, adaptable, stable. The features of transformation and transition to sustainable agri-food systems are defined.
